My husband and I went through six rounds of IVF over several years that resulted in only three chromosomally ‘normal’ embryos (confirmed through PGS). Our first embryo transfer resulted in a failed attempt. We were discouraged but the doctor said sometimes it ‘just doesn’t work’ and we should move right into a second transfer.
Because I had a healthy uterine lining and healthy embryos, there was no other explanation. However, yet again, it did not work. With only one embryo left and the difficulty we had had producing healthy embryos, we were very nervous about our last embryo being our last chance.
Our doctor told us about the ERA test and thought we would be a good candidate for it. We went ahead with it and found out that we should transfer a day later than we had on the previous two attempts. The actual test was not even difficult compared to everything else we had been through! I was still very skeptical that one day could make a difference but I couldn’t have been happier to be wrong!
Our third and final attempt worked and I now have my amazing 7 month old son. I really believe ERA (and LOTS of persistence) made the difference and I wouldn’t have my son if it wasn’t for this incredible test. I truly believe he is a miracle helped along by the most talented doctors and scientists. He was my last chance and I am so grateful. I urge everyone who has a similar history with assisted reproductive treatments to do the ERA test.
